2016 Chevy Camaro

The reengineered 2016 Chevy Camaro is the proud winner of the 2016 Motor Trend Car of the Year award. Featuring the similar, aggressive design of past Camaro’s, but with new specs and sharper lines, it is truly a top-of-the-line American muscle car. With different specs and performance features on each trim model, the most basic Camaro trim, the 1LT is still equipped with a number of excellent technology, safety and entertainment features.

The Basics

Under the hood, the Camaro 1LT is equipped with a V6 2.0-liter engine that produces 275-horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The standard trim comes with a six-speed manual transmission, but an eight-speed automatic transmission is also available. The Chevy Camaro pushes its energy through its rear wheel drivetrain, which gives drivers good control and handling while driving.

As a muscle car, the Camaro rides on front and rear performance tires and aluminum rims. The Camaro coupe comes standard with rear defrost, running LED headlights and power windows. Buyers also have the option to add-on a power sunroof and rear spoiler and the option of 10 different exterior paint colors.

Safety Features

Safety in the Camaro 1LT, as is the case with all other Chevy vehicles, is very important. Chevy is one of the few brands that include all safety features standard across all trims — so there is no need for buyers to upgrade to get added safety features. The Camaro’s safety features include 2016 Corvette interior available in South Florida airbags throughout the driver and passenger sides, the front and back and head and body airbags. Essentially, all of the airbags provides a protective balloon on the interior of the vehicle in case of impact. Additional features are four-wheel anti-lock brakes and four-wheel disc brakes, brake assist, daytime running lights, emergency trunk release, traction control and electronic stability control.

Interior Features and Specs

The 2016 Chevy Camaro 1LT is more than just a performance muscle car, as it also has many great features inside. The 1LT trim comes standard with a back-up camera, front reading lamps, SiriusXM satellite radio equipment and keyless start. Drivers have the option to upgrade the vehicle in order to include HID headlights and a remote engine start.

As for entertainment, passengers in the 1LT can enjoy listening to their favorite music through an AM/FM stereo, MP3 player along with access to satellite radio. The Camaro comes with an auxiliary input jack for connecting external audio devices such as a smartphone, MP3 player or tablet. Buyers can opt for a sound system upgrade which includes a seven-speaker Bose premium sound system that boosts speaker performance and enhances the overall audio quality.

The front driver and passenger seats are both power adjusted. Since it is a coupe, the seats are pass-through based, so they move forward to access to the rear bucket seats.

Other 2016 Camaro Trims

The two-door coupe 1LT is the entry model into the world of 2016 Chevy Camaros. There are four different trim models for the 2016 model season. In addition to the 1LT, the lineup includes the 2LT, the 1SS and the 2SS. While each of these trims have various changes and upgrades on the vehicle’s interior, the biggest difference between the LT models and the SS models is the engine. Both the 1LT and the 2LT come standard with the I4 2.0L/122 engine and the option to upgrade to the V6. However, the SS comes with a larger V8 6.2L/376 engine that produces 455-horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque.
