Terrain

The GMC Terrain is a compact sports utility vehicle with good reviews, great technology, and an upscale interior. Even the base model Terrain, the GMC Terrain SL, comes standard with many useful technology and safety features.

Trims and Engines

There are five trims available for the GMC Terrain: the SL, SLE-1, SLE-2, SLT and Denali. All of the Terrain trims come standard with a 182 horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder VVT DI engine and a fuel-saving 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2.4L I-4 engine gets an estimated 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg when on the highway, and can tow up to 1,500 pounds.

The standard fuel saving transmission features an eco mode gear that can be turned on by a button. To improve fuel economy, eco mode changes the shift points for better around-town gas mileage.

Buyers also have the option of a larger engine. The upgraded engine is a 3.6L V-6 VVT SIDI engine. This engine gets up to 301 horsepower and can go 0-60 mph in 6.7 seconds. The larger engine has a higher maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds and it has a slightly lower fuel economy of 17 mpg city, and 24 mpg highway.
