2018 Hyundai Car + Sedan Lineup

Hyundai has some big things planned for the 2018 model year! The Hyundai Accent is redesigned, along with the now sportier Elantra GT. The biggest redesign, however, is the Hyundai Sonata, which now adds a new plug-in hybrid version of the Ioniq to this years lineup. Let’s take a closer look at what Hyundai has to offer for 2018…

2018 Hyundai Accent

For the 2018 model year, Hyundai’s entry-level Accent receives an all-new redesign that includes a stronger body and enhanced driving dynamics. Offered in three trim levels – SE, SEL and Limited, all three share a 130-hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. Fuel economy is 28/38 MPG city/highway for all three trim levels.

The base SE trim includes the basic features like AM/FM/MP3 four-speaker audio system with a 5-inch color touchscreen display, handsfree bluetooth and a standard rearview camera. Moving higher, the SEL and Limited trim levels offer a bit more “curb appeal” with alloy wheels, a 7-inch touchscreen display, AM/FM/SiriusXM radio with Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay capabilities and 6 speakers throughout the interior cabin. Exclusively featured on the Limited trim are heated front seats, Forward Collision-avoidance Assist, and complimentary three-year Blue Link Connected Car Service.

2018 Hyundai Elantra

In the 2017 model year, the Hyundai Elantra got a major facelift. As a result, the 2018 Elantra only came with a few minor changes. The 2018 Elantra is offered in six trim levels – SE, SEL, Value Edition, Eco, Sport and Limited. The SE, SEL, Value Edition, and Limited trim levels share a 147-hp 2.0-liter  DOHC 16-valve Inline four-cylinder engine optimized by Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT). The Eco and Sport trim levels are powered by a standard 1.4 or 1.6-liter (respectively) turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine.

The transmission varies depending on the trim levels. For instance, the SE and Sport come with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the SEL, Value Edition and Limited come standard with a 6-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC and Active ECO system (optional for the SE trim). Finally, the Eco offers a 7-speed EcoShift dual clutch transmission with SHIFTRONIC (optional for the Sport trim) .

All six trim levels come equipped with driver’s auto-down power windows, front illuminated power window switches, power door locks, a 60/40 split fold-down rear bench seat, center armrest storage, illuminated ignition, and smartphone/USB and AUX input jacks, standard. With the exception of the base SE trim, the remaining trims come standard with a 7-inch display audio system with a high-resolution touchscreen, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay capabilities, and 3.5-inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT) monochromatic cluster display.

2018 Hyundai Sonata

Considered one of the top-rated midsize sedans by Edmunds, the 2018 Hyundai Sonata offers adjustable trims- six to be exact. Those include, the SE, Eco, SEL, Sport+, Limited, and Limited 2.0T+. The 2018 Hyundai Sonata offers three four-cylinder engines. The SE, SEL, Sport and Limited trims are powered by a 185-hp 2.4-liter engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The Eco trim offers a 178-hp 1.6-liter twin scroll turbo engine paired to a seven-speed EcoShift Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) with SHIFTRONIC. Lastly, the Limited 2.0T+ is equipped with a 245-hp 2.0-liter twin scroll turbo engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC.    

The Limited 2.0T+ trim level is exclusively equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen display with navigation and an AM/FM/SiriusXM/MP3 Infinity 10-speaker premium audio system that includes a subwoofer and external 400 watt amplifier. This is also an optional feature on the Limited trim. The remaining trims come standard with a 7-inch color touchscreen display plus AM/FM/MP3 audio system with six speakers. The SE and Eco trims offer Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Lane Change Assist (LCA). Additional features on the Sport+ include a sport grille, improved front fascia, rear diffuser, sport seats, and sport shift knob. Finally, the premium Limited 2.0T+ trim level offers Automatic Emergency Braking and Lane Keep Assist, Smart Cruise Control with start/stop and a panoramic sunroof.

2018 Hyundai Elantra GT

Making its first official debut for the 2018 model year, the all-new Hyundai Elantra GT is a definite show-stopper. Available in just two trim levels – GT and GT Sport, both offer a perfect combination of style, performance and a spacious interior cabin. The base trim is standard with a 161-hp 2.0-liter engine optimized with Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) and the option of a six-speed manual or automatic transmission plus, a fuel economy of 23/31 MPG city/highway. The GT Sport trim offers consumers an upgraded 201-hp 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with GDI and either a manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission plus a fuel economy of 22/29 MPG city/highway.

Both trim levels come equipped with a 6-way adjustable driver seat including height adjustment for driver and passenger, and 60/40 split fold-down rear bench seating. Entertainment options include an, 8-inch high-resolution touchscreen display  with AM/FM/HD Radio/SiriusXM Satellite radio, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay capabilities, and a Bluetooth hands-free phone system with voice recognition. Finally, the base trim comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels with 225/45R17 tires and the GT Sport has 18-inch alloy wheels with P225/40R18 tires.
