National Ice Cream Day: Best Ice Cream Shops in South Florida
July is hot in South Florida, but there are a few ways we can find some relief from the heat. Aside from pools and beaches — there’s also ice cream, an excellent way to cool off. While it may be a little indulgent to dine on ice cream every day, National Ice Cream Day (July 17) is a great day to enjoy your favorite dessert.
So on July 17 (a Sunday this year) stop by a shop that specializes in ice cream. In case you’re new to the area or you don’t have a favorite on your list, here are a couple favorite spots near us in Davie and in other South Florida cities.
Ice Cream Club: Davie
The Ice Cream Club has been around since 1982. It has that classic family run shop feeling many people love. The shop offers a variety of ice cream flavors ranging from original vanilla to mango. They also have delicious shakes, floats, and endless toppings for your cone or sundae. Check it out!
Creams and Dreams: Davie
Creams and Dreams, located off of University Dr. in Davie, is a must try. It has a 4.9 out of 5 rating on its Google reviews. Creams and Dreams makes their ice cream and almost all of it includes natural ingredients. There are 12 different ice cream flavors, as well as hot and iced coffee.

Jaxon’s Ice Cream Parlour and Restaurant: Dania Beach
Jaxson’s is a famous ice cream parlour in South Florida. Jaxson’s opens at 11:30 a.m. and stays open until 11 p.m. In addition to serving up delicious flavors in a variety of ways, they also have a lunch and dinner menu. Have a big group? Jaxson’s offers an option called the “kitchen sink.” The “kitchen sink” is an ice cream option for parties of four or more and it is served in an actual stainless steel sink. It’s filled with a mountain of ice cream and a variety of toppings.
Walls Old Fashioned Ice Cream: Coral Gables/ Miami
Maybe you live closer to Miami, check out Walls Old Fashioned Ice Cream. Enjoy a variety of classic ice cream flavors under the famous red umbrella seating outside. Even better — there’s a variety of classic cars that surround the property to help keep it feeling like a vintage spot.
Sloan’s Ice Cream: Boca Raton
Sloan’s is another iconic ice cream shop in the South Florida area, with six different locations. One of the locations is perfect for those of you who live close to “north” South Florida. This location is in Mizner Park in Boca. The first Sloan’s was opened in 1999, and has continued to grow over time. Enjoy a fun and delicious, classic ice cream parlour feel at Sloan’s today for National Ice Cream day. Other Sloan’s locations include: three West Palm locations, a Lauderdale by the Sea location, and a Delray location.
