Used Cars to Save You Money in 2019

February 22nd, 2019 by

Pre-owned does not mean ancient or that you’ll be driving around a beat-up car. Pre-owned means it’s been loved and cared for. A lot of times a pre-owned vehicle will offer more value than a new one since it’s already taken the depreciation hit.

The lack of popularity with some cars can result in a severe drop in depreciation. That’s bad news if you bought a new one, but great news if you are looking for a value in the pre-owned market. Here’s what you should look into when purchasing a used vehicle.

FOUR USED VEHICLES THAT WILL SAVE YOU MONEY IN 2019:

KIA OPTIMA:

The 2015 Kia Optima comes in five trim levels: LX, EX, SX, SX Turbo. The 2015 model featured a 192-horsepower four-cylinder engine or a 274-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder. Engine options in the 2015 Optima include a standard 185-horsepower four-cylinder, a 178-horsepower turbo-four, and a 245-horsepower turbocharged engine.

The 2015 Kia Optima sedan seats five and it comes standard with cloth upholstery and a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. Available amenities include leather seats, a 10-way power-adjustable passenger seat, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats. Standard features in the 2015 Optima include a USB port, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and a six-speaker stereo.

NISSAN ALTIMA:

The 2015 base Altima has abundant power for highway merging and passing. Its four-cylinder engine delivers class-leading fuel economy of 27 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. The strong V6 engine found in some models is even livelier. A continuously variable transmission – which acts like an automatic – is paired with both engines, and front-wheel drive is standard.

The Altima seats five and comes standard with cloth-upholstered front seats that are more supportive and comfortable than most competitors’ seats. The rear seats can handle most folks. The Altima’s LATCH child-seat system comes with lower anchors on the outboard rear seats and tether anchors on all three rear seats.

TOYOTA RAV 4:

There were some significant changes for the 2016 model year, including the addition of a few new tech features. There are four trims available: LE, XLE, SE, and Limited. It includes convenience and comfort features that the base model doesn’t, like dual-zone automatic climate control, a moonroof, and satellite radio. The five-seat RAV4 has comfortable front seats that offer plenty of support.

The Toyota RAV4 SE trim, which was new for 2016, is the sporty version of this SUV, it comes standard with all-wheel drive and a sport-tuned suspension. In addition, the SE trim adds push-button start, a remote power liftgate, an eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat, blind spot monitoring, and Entune Audio Plus with a navigation system. The Toyota RAV4 Limited adds a larger touch screen, the Entune App Suite, and Toyota Safety Sense (a suite of advanced safety features).

JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE:

It has a luxurious interior, a comfortable ride, and a user-friendly infotainment system. The 2015 Grand Cherokee comes in six trims: Laredo, Laredo E, Limited, Overland, Summit, and a Grand Cherokee SRT. The base Laredo includes dual-zone automatic climate control, a six-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, a 5-inch touch screen, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls and paddle shifters.

The Laredo E adds satellite radio and an eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat. The Limited has leather-trimmed seats, heated front, and rear seats, eight-way power adjustable front seats, a power liftgate, and a rearview camera. A 360-horsepower V8 engine and a diesel V6 engine are available in Limited trims and higher.

The Overland trim is more opulent than lower trims, offering premium leather upholstery, wood trim, ventilated front seats, a nine-speaker audio system, an 8.4-inch touch screen, a navigation system with voice recognition, and additional steering wheel controls. The Summit trim features a 19-speaker premium audio system, open-pore wood trim, and active noise cancellation inside the cabin. The high-performance SRT trim includes all the active safety features available for the Grand Cherokee, as well as a standard 475-horsepower V8 engine.

So when you’re considering a pre-loved vehicle remember these two things. One, it’s been loved before. And two, it will offer more value than a new one since it’s already taken the depreciation hit
