The sporty and luxurious Alfa Romeo brand is known for turning heads with its premium design and masterful engine performance. Driver’s Auto Mart has chosen to put the spotlight on the 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio for our Used Car of The Week. This premium-crossover SUV outranks its competitors with its power, performance, and high-end features. This vehicle is perfect for those who prioritize an overall great experience with their vehicle, and with the help of our dealership, one won’t have to pay an extravagant price. This car is more than accommodating to those with a variety of different needs, whether it’s for one who loves its safety features or simply for satisfaction during their midlife-crisis, for a price of just under 28,000, this car is the one to beat!

Engine and Drive

Just like any other vehicle from this brand, the main highlight of the 2018 Romeo Stelvio is undoubtedly the high-performance motor. Starting off with the base 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, it rushes out 280 horsepower with 306 lb-ft of torque. These numbers already dominate competitors and even more so by providing an added plus for buyers with the standard AWD. This car has a 3-mode selector cleverly titled “Alfa DNA”, using the Dynamic, Natural, and Advanced Efficiency drive modes. If all of that wasn’t enough, buyers that opt for the Stelvio Quadrifoglio model get close to double the amount of horsepower and 443 feet of torque.

As one should expect, this car definitely adds the “sport” in their utility vehicle, and though some automakers claim to have done this with similar models, Alfa Romeo is one of the few to have actually succeeded. Without question, first-time drivers of the 2018 Stelvio will immediately see that this SUV is a freak of nature, which is a rarity in its segment. It’s ZF 8-speed automatic transmission makes a great team with the vehicle, as it helps with creating quick shifts while the drive-model selector makes for a more thrilling ride while on the “dynamic” setting.

Exterior

More than likely the Stelvio puts a bigger emphasis on its performance and style rather than its usefulness, but that’s not such a deal-breaker in the sense that the brand isn’t known for its minivans. This compact SUV shows off its sleek and glossy profile, its cute long snout, and piercing eyes that are deep and intense enough to make anyone melt. The sort of sweep upwards towards the beltline catching up to the car’s husky backside and its sloped window provides a unique shape and design. Additionally, the Stelvio’s powered tailgate and 8.1 inches of ground clearance make for some level of practicality when tackling snow or tricky terrain.

Interior and Features

Inside of the Stelvio, it has an attractive styling all throughout, whether it’s with its comfortable 5-passenger seats, intelligently-structured leather, available aluminum or wood trim, or horizontal 6.5-inch or 8.8-inch wide-screen infotainment display.

This 2018 Romeo has five trims: Base, Sport, Ti, Ti Sport and Ti Lusso. Starting off, the base model is well-equipped with goodies like leather interior, 10-way-power front seats, power liftgate, dual-zone climate control, rearview camera with rear parking sensors, and rain-sensing wipers. The standard 8-speaker audio system packages AM/FM/HD Radio, our USB outlets, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Ti trim comes with available heated front seats and steering wheel, heated windshield-washer nozzle, front parking sensors and the larger, 8.8-inch wide-screen display. Sport models come with 20-inch wheels and 12-way-power adjustable sport seats with premium leather, while the Ti Lusso switches out aluminum trim for mellower warmer wood accents and luxury leather upholstery. Other options include navigation, harman/kardon premium audio system and a dual-pane sunroof. The package bundle also includes hands-free tailgate, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking with forward collision, lane-departure warning, and automatic high-beam assist.
