The 2018 Hyundai Elantra Is Driver’s Auto Mart’s Used Car of The Week!

May 11th, 2021 by

The 2018 Hyundai Elantra has quite a reputation for its stylish and endearing looks, capable features, and unique value. High-tier models like the Elantra Sport are more energetic and proficient in handling, while Limited models have top-ranking features like a power-operated trunk, Infinity audio, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. All of these upsides are just a few of the many reasons this sedan is Driver’s Auto Mart’s Used Car of The Week!

Engine and Drive

This Elantra sedan has four engine 4-cylinder options to choose from,  the first of which is the standard 2.0-liter motor, it’s leagued with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. Following this is a more powerful version of the same engine, which goes from 147 horsepower to 162 horsepower; this is exclusive to the Elantra GT.

The third is the 1.4-liter turbocharged motor, it’s paired with a 7-speed automatic on the Eco model. As the moniker suggests, the Elantra Eco engine has the best fuel efficiency out of the four, with its fuel economy numbers at 32 (EPA city) / 40 highway (highway) mpg.

Finally, the 1.6 turbocharger feeds the fire on the Sport and GT Sport trims, with 201  horsepower, using a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic as its partners in crime.

The compact delivers in more ways than one when it comes to providing comfort and performance, especially when in the Sport and GT Sport models, as they have a tighter suspension and larger brakes. At the same time, the standard 2.0-liter motor can still handle business, as its 6-speed automatic is responsible for giving the engine its strength.

The 2018 Elantra has a bit of a traditional style, sporting a minimalist type of design that somehow manages to seduce you. Its large hexagon-shaped grille helps add an extra layer of flavor to the mix, while the air curtains in the front makes the car look even more attractive. Then, the Sport model is even more alluring with its 18-inch wheels. The sedan has a measurement of 179.9 inches long, and 70.9 inches wide.

Interior and Standard Features

The interior is equally as graceful and sophisticated as the exterior. Even though it’s classified as a compact, its 110.2 cubic feet of space will fool anyone into believing that it was a mid-size. The dashboard is very comprehensive and uses (now considered throwback) knobs and buttons for audio and climate functions instead of touch-sensitive this and that. The seats are designed for comfort and support, as evidenced from their D-shaped outline, while the leather-wrapped steering wheel adds a bit of oomph inside of the Sport model.

Standard features across all 2018 Elantra’s include air conditioning, power windows and door locks, a 6-way driver’s seat with height adjustment, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and AM/FM/CD audio with USB and auxiliary jacks. Some optional indulgences encompass heated and ventilated front seats; memory seats, a split/fold rear seat, automatic climate control, a hands-free power trunk, USB ports, Bluetooth, Android Auto,  satellite radio, smartphone connectivity, and a navigation system.
