The 2019 Acura ILX Receives A Refreshing Facelift
Five years after its debut in 2013, the Acura ILX is proving that it still has some serious pep in its step. For the 2019 model year, the Acura ILX delivers a fresh new exterior and interior style, additional technology features, and a friendlier price.
Priced at $1,750, the Premium Package features a four-way power passenger seat, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, HD radio, garage door opener, a seven-speaker stereo with subwoofer, leather interior, blind-spot monitoring, and an updated dual-screen infotainment system called On Demand Multi-Use Display 2.0. One of the most important updates for 2019, is the available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibilities. According to Acura, the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto “brings in more first-time buyers to the brand than any other model.” The next Acura ILX package is the Technology Package. Priced at an additional $3,650, the Technology Package includes all the features from the Premium package, plus navigation with real-time traffic, AcuraLink connected services, and a further upgraded stereo system with ten speakers.
Additionally, the A-Spec Package, which is an additional $2000 more, delivers a sportier look while allowing consumers to combine it with the Premium and Technology packages. On the outside, the A-Spec Package includes a dark chrome trim around the grille, lower fascia, fog lights, and matching dark accents around the headlights and taillights. Furthermore, a set of 18-inch wheels (17-inch are standard) in a Shark Gray finish, a gloss black trunk lid spoiler that adorns the rear, an A-Spec badged steering wheel with contrasting stitching, aluminum pedaling, and new sport seats with Ebony or Red leather upholstery and a black Ultrasuede trim in the center are also included in the A-Spec Package.
New For 2019
The Acura ILX seems to be having a “come to Jesus” moment, and the interior and exterior are no exception. As previously mentioned, the ILX delivers a fresh new exterior and exterior style. For the 2019 model year, the Acura’s mechanical features aren’t changed and maintain the same 2.4-liter inline-four that delivers 201 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque coupled to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that turns the front wheels. What’s interesting about the Acura’s dual-clutch automatic transmission is that it includes a torque converter that “yields the yacht-rock smoothness off the line with quick, solid upshifts.” Although Acura hasn’t released the performance specifications, fuel economy checks in at 24 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.
Inside, the front and rear seats receive an upgrade with standard adjustable lumbar support for the driver. The available infotainment features still maintain the same two-screen multimedia arrangement with a 7-inch touchscreen for most of the controls and a larger 8-inch display that has a dashboard knob-and-button controller (no touch technology) for navigation and other functions.
The 2019 Acura ILX sports an enormous badge in the middle of the restyled front grille and completely restyled rear fascia, as well as, the license plate being pushed down. Additionally, the exterior style of the Acura also receives a new front bumper, sharper hood sculpting, and new LED headlights. In addition to the exterior enhancements, the ILX sedans will now come standard with the AcuraWatch technology, that includes a forward collision system with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-centering steering. Optional safety features include blind-spot warnings and rear cross-traffic alerts.
The 2019 Acura ILX has a starting MSRP of $26,895 (plus destination fee) and is expected to hit dealers within this Month. Stop by Driver’s Auto Mart, located in Davie, FL and check out our entire used car inventory selection.
