The 2019 BMW X3 sDrive30i is the perfect vehicle for those who are looking for a big SUV that’s not so bulky and over-the-top. This vehicle is great at handling, has attractive styling and a charming European badge. Also, the X3 is only one of two vehicles in its division that offers rear-wheel drive alongside an all-wheel drive, which is exactly why it is Driver’s Auto Mart Used Car of The Week!

Drive and Engine

The X3 is the epitome of refinement and efficiency when it comes to sporty utility vehicles and only validates the impressive Mercedes background for making vehicles that are energetic, powerful, and an overall thrilling drive. The base X3 caught us a bit off guard with its dynamic acceleration and handling, as it boasts 0-60 mpg in as little as six seconds.

The rear-biased all-wheel-drive system greatly contributes to the quick handling and overall top performance. On top of saving money, it will feel very similar to a classic 3 Series sedan.

The X3’s forceful engine already provides enough power for most buyers but those who still need a little more “zoom-zoom”, the X3 M40i (the highest trim) really piles it on with its turbocharged 6-cylinder engine from 0-60 mph in just 4.6 seconds. Additionally, the Driving Dynamics Control allows drivers to customize the vehicle’s setting to his or her desired liking.

The 2019 X3 comes with two available engines that are both powerhouses in their own right. The sDrive30i and xDrive30i are paired with a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that puts out 248 horsepower with 258 lb-ft of torque. The sDrive30i model is the only trim that gets a rear-wheel drive, but it still rides like a dream.

As previously mentioned, the M40i has a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 engine with 355 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The overall fuel economy for all models isn’t too shabby too, as the MPG is 23 for the city and 30 for the highway.

Exterior

BMW has quite a reputation for creating and selling luxury vehicles…and motorcycles, so shoppers will certainly get the best of the style of the 2019 X3, and certainly doesn’t disappoint. The 3rd generation X3 looks intimidating enough but not at all overwhelming in terms of its size. The grille and other characteristics on the front and back look quite similar to the previous models but still great nonetheless.

We appreciate the color options like Alpine White, Black Sapphire Metallic, Carbon Black Metallic, Dark Graphite Metallic, Dark Olive Metallic, Glacier Silver Metallic, Jet Black, Mineral White Metallic, Phytonic Blue Metallic, and Terra Brown Metallic,

Interior

This 2019 BMW SUV has a similar design to that of other vehicles from its year. Mounted high upon the dashboard is a wide-view display, the iDrive control knob near the BMW’s distinctive gear selector, and synonymous ergonomics of the luxury vehicle’s ownership experience for the past twenty years. It’s has a bit of a minimalistic type of style yet still with a premium-like feel to its simplistic touch. Also, common functions like the audio and climate controls are practical and well within reach.

Despite this model being a bit smaller than its predecessors, it’s still quite roomy inside. The space for drivers and front passengers is quite plentiful, even rear-seat passengers will be able to relish the amount of legroom that they have. Headroom is also abundant as well as the cargo space, there is plenty of room for small items if you want to hide them beneath the floor.

Now comes the most exciting part about any luxury vehicle, its top-notch features. Starting off with the base models gadgets, it has power tailgate, 3-zone automatic climate control, 10-way-power front seats, SensaTec faux leather upholstery, rain-sensing windshield wipers, universal garage-door opener and standard parking sensors.

A couple of highlighting features are the Active Guard system with a frontal-collision warning and the Automatic City Collision Mitigation braking system with front, which has the ability to automatically utilize the brakes if the vehicle senses a forthcoming collision.

Additionally, the standard iDrive infotainment system loads together a 10.25-inch screen that can be controlled by touch or the iDrive dial, and a 12-speaker/205-watt AM/FM/HD Radio with USB input and Bluetooth streaming; For an extra $300, you can have Apple CarPlay embedded in.
