In the new age of SUVs this and crossover that, the 2019 Ford Fusion sedan stays incredibly fresh and modern. With a style that exudes poise and sophistication, a slew of interior features, as well as an impressive selection of powertrains, even those that prefer to sit nice and high can’t help but find this car enticing. All of these factors with the sedan’s affordable price is exactly why it’s been chosen as Driver’s Auto Mart’s Used Car of The Week!

Engine

The base Ford Fusion S is powered by a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, which gives out a modest 173 horsepower with 174 lb-ft of torque. Most buyers may prefer to at least start out with the peppier 1.5-liter turbocharger, which is standard in the SE trim. This engine provides 181 horsepower with 185 lb-ft of torque.

You really get a kick out of things with the automaker’s 2.0-liter turbo, as this engine levels up to 245 horsepower with 275 lb-ft of torque. For the sports car type of feel, Ford has a high-ranking 2.7-liter turbo that goes full speed with 325 horsepower with 380 lb-ft of torque.

For the more environmentally-conscious, the 2019 Fusion also has two 2.0-liter 4-cylinder hybrid options, which both are paired with a permanent magnet AC synchronous motor. The plug-in version has a bit more power than the regular hybrid’s 188 as opposed to 195.

Exterior

The 2019 Fusion is incredibly pleasing to the eye, especially in the front. The 5-bar design is standard on the S, SE, and SEL models, while the Titanium’s chrome mesh gives it that extra oomph. Some features like fog lights, LED tail lights, two-wheel design options also add some pizzazz to the mid-sized vehicle. The Fusion Sport then gives the car a bit of edge with its dark wheels and black mesh grille.

Interior and Standard Features

The inner body somehow manages to give an aura of simplicity while also being on the cutting edge, such as with its rotary shifter and electronic parking brake. Four adults should find comfort in their seats, leaving just enough room for a tiny-tot.

It only gets better from there with the SE model providing Sync 3 connectivity, along with an 8-inch touchscreen, and Wi-Fi. Buyers of the SEL will enjoy the posher seat fabric, heated front seats, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Titanium has all of these comforts, as well as heated and cooled seats, inflatable rear belts, a moonroof, and adaptive cruise control.

One of Ford’s highlight technologies is their Co-Pilot 360 Protect safety suite, as it includes an extensive list of safety features like automatic emergency braking, blind-spot information with cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping system, a rearview camera, rain-sensing wipers, and auto high-beam lighting. There is also an upgraded version of this suite, which encompasses adaptive cruise control, voice-activated navigation, and SiriusXM Traffic. Luckily, this system is included in all Fusion models.
