The 2019 Hyundai Elantra has a lot going for it, with its compact but refined design, stellar powertrain, and fine quality for its cheap price. In the interior, passengers are welcomed with an extensive amount of space and fun infotainment features like 7-inch display audio and Apple CarPlay. Overall, its variety of engine options and affordability is exactly why it’s Driver’s Auto Mart’s Used Car Of The Week!

Engine and Drive

Buyers of the 2019 Elantra have four engine options to choose from. Starting off, the standard 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine is used for the first three trims and is paired up with a 6-speed automatic manual or automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the SEL, Limited, and Value Edition models all come solely with the automatic transmission. The Sport trim has a 1.6-liter turbo engine that is much more powerful and comes with a choice of a standard 6-speed manual or an available 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The automatic transmission on the Elantra provides smooth shifts. The Eco model has more power in the low rev range, the combination with the dual-clutch automatic aids in the increased responsiveness. The suspension tuning is firm but feels light, and the ride is controlled quite nicely, especially over any bumps. The Limited model’s larger wheel and tire make for a better grip, though not in a way that is too obvious. The drive can best be described as a great blend of comfort and efficiency.

Exterior

The front grille, bumper, and fenders make for a look that is more distinguished and slightly posh. The large grille and inclined headlights call necessary attention to the design, and even more so with the eye-catching LED headlights for the Limited and Sport trims. At the rear, the trunk, taillights and rear fascia correspond well with the updated rear designs and has a similar style to the previous Elantra model.  The vehicle’s size is quite manageable, and measures out to 181.8 inches and rides on a 106.3-inch wheelbase.

Interior and Features

Although the 2019 Elantra is considered a compact vehicle, according to the EPA, its 110.2 cubic feet of room in the interior also fits the criteria as a mid size sedan. Both front and rear seats provide great comfort for all passengers and also fairs well with support. The dashboard has a design that is nice and simple, it’s also perfect for those who aren’t ready to let go of using buttons for controls.

The base SE trim comes with standard features like power windows, power locks, air conditioning, height-adjustable driver’s seat, Bluetooth, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel plus an AM/FM/CD stereo with a 5-inch color screen, rearview monitor, USB, and aux jacks. All the while, the SEL steps its game up with the SmartSense suite (Forward Collision-Avoidance, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Attention Alert), 7-inch display audio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

Some optional features that buyers might be enticed with are the leather interior, power driver’s seat with lumbar support, hands-free power trunk, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, heated front seats, Infinity audio, Qi wireless charging, high-beam assist and push-button start with the Limited trim. Include the Ultimate package with this model and you’ll get other goodies like navigation with an 8-inch screen, a power sunroof, safety exit warning, Forward Collision Assist with pedestrian detection and adaptive cruise control.

Last but not least, the most important feature of the 2019 Elantra is Hyundai’s  10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile standard warranty ultimately covering everything.
