March 25th, 2020 by

In the wake of the Coronavirus, it’s clear that we’re living in tricky times, so the last thing you might be thinking about is car shopping. However, consider the fact that you’ll need a vehicle that can provide you and your family with practical needs, one of the most important ones being cargo…and lots of it. The 2019 Ram 1500 is an excellent truck to buy because it can tow and haul more than the majority of the competition, this means that not only is there plenty of room for you and you’re loved ones but much more room for your hand sanitizer and toilet paper. Additionally, its very comfortable inside and has a wide range of driver assistance and infotainment features. It may be last’s years model but its benefits are certainly timeless, and that’s exactly why it has been selected as Driver’s Auto Mart’s Used Car of The Week!

Engine, Drive, and Towing Capability

The 2019 Ram 1500 has many trim levels like Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited. Among all of these trims are two cab styles, quad and crew with V-6 or V-8 powertrains. These gas engines are paired with a 48-volt hybrid system but apart from that are carried over unaltered. The lineup also has an optional EcoDiesel 3.0-liter V-6 engine that creates 480 lb-ft of torque, which is far more admirable than the resembling diesel engines on half-ton pickups from some other brands.

This model is quite strong and hefty, but then again, one should probably expect that with a Ram. The 1500 can tow up to 12,750 lbs and carry a weight of up to 2320 lbs. For wanna be expeditionists, the rough and tough Rebel model gives a brawny and somewhat intimidating look with reputable off-road capability.

Every Ram 1500 will guarantee a dynamic and fun ride owing to its rear suspension that uses a standard coil or optional air springs, as opposed to the conventional leaf-spring setup found on local competitors. Models that are geared with the air suspension even have ride heights that can be altered and aid in fuel efficiency as well as off-road ability. The steering is also light and the tough brakes make way for an easy drive with composed stops.

Cargo Space and Interior

When it comes to cargo space, especially during times like these, the Ram 1500 will prove to be a big necessity. There is plenty of storage space and even in places one might not have been aware about.

The Ram 1500 has optional RamBox cargo bed cubby-holes and also includes standard in-floor RamBins. There is an available bin under the rear seat as well as a large and customizable center console box, as a result, everything has a place. The door panels even have shelves built into them, and the second upper glove box in by the front passenger provides great use.

Corner steps, cargo separators, and tie-downs are available options for the bed. Also, Ram is offering a new 60/40 split tailgate design that comes down or to the left and right, which is especially helpful for unloading weighty items without leaning too far to reach them.

It’s easy to find comfort in the 2019 Ram. The truck’s front seats offer a plethora of adjustments. The center console has an armrest that is wide and cushy, the upper door panel sills are low and rubbery. The steering wheel also has a nice and easy grip.

It may not look like it from the outside looking in, but the back seats are very spacious. There is plenty of room to recline the class-distinctive seatbacks and relax beneath the glass roof panel. Three people can easily sit across from each other but it is optional for two people to be separated by a wide armrest with cupholders and a storage area.

Another feature that is optional is the power running boards which makes it unproblematic for drivers and passengers to get in and out of the truck.

Standard Safety and Infotainment Features

The Ram 1500 has plenty of features that ensure the safety of drivers and passengers alike, one of them being the rearview camera that comes standard. Other driver assistance features include adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, front and rear parking sensors, and parallel and perpendicular park assist.

The 2019 truck also has various features that add more of a “coolness” factor rather than a necessity, but that’s exactly what makes it so “cool”. These features include push-button start, Bluetooth, three USB ports, and the Uconnect infotainment system with a 5-inch touch screen.

Features that are not standard but are available include a sunroof, wireless device charging, satellite radio, a Harman Kardon audio system, and an upgraded Uconnect system with an 8.4- or 12-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and navigation.

RAM 1500 Limited

The 2019 Ram 1500 Limited has a standard starting price of $53,440. This model includes wireless device charging, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. For an extra $2,500 with the Level 1 Equipment Group, you’ll get a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, ventilated rear seats, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, park assist, and a surround-view camera.
