The 2020 Ford Expedition Is Driver’s Auto Mart’s Used Car of The Week!

October 10th, 2022 by

The 2020 Ford Expedition perfectly embodies what one should expect in a full-size SUV…and so much more! This 8-seater involves many positives, such as an incredibly spacious interior, well-equipped in-car features, reasonable fuel consumption, and an excellent max tow rating of 9,300 lbs.

All of these excitements and its amazing ride quality add up to the many reasons why this vehicle has been chosen as Driver’s Auto Mart’s Used Car of The Week!

Only one powertrain gets the Expeditions gears going, and that’s the twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6. This motor produces an astonishing output of 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The Platinum trim is even better, as it’s been tuned to generate 400 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. That’s quite a bit of brawn, even for a vehicle in this segment. The Expedition takes full advantage of this, owning its partnership with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

A rear-wheel drive (RWD) is the standard setup, while an all-wheel drive (AWD) is an available option. The fuel economy also has good figures, rounding up to 23 mpg on the highway.

Ford decided to have a relatively uniform style for this model year for each trim. The profile and lighting units show a bit of a likeness to the 2020 Explorer. Our reviewers think this was an intelligent choice because it allows the SUV to exude nerve and fearlessness.

The Ford Platinum buyers will enjoy the opulent chrome, while Max trims have a bit of everything, including a longer wheelbase and extra cargo space.

Interior and Standard Features

The inside of the cabin has a high-scale look and essence. This is made possible by the rugged control surfaces for functions like volume, temperature, gearshift, and the driving mode selector.

Second-row passengers get to revel in a comfortable seating area with more than enough room to adjust their legroom (42.6 inches). Even third-row passengers will be pleased with how much space they have.

Cargo space is abundant, with 20.9 cubes to work with, only to lengthen 104.6 behind the front seats.

Standard features worth looking forward to involve forward-collision mitigation with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assistance, and automatic high beams, which are all part of the brand’s Co-Pilot360. Additional features involve a rearview camera with grid lines and a washer, multiple airbags, a post-crash alert for emergency response, and trailer-sway control.

On the convenience side, the base-level XLT trim comes with power-folding 3rd-row seats, keyless entry/ignition, Bluetooth phone/audio, four USB ports, AM/FM/MP3/CD player, and satellite radio, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, and a 6-speaker audio system.
