The 2021 Toyota Avalon Is Driver’s Auto Mart’s Used Car of The Week!
The Toyota company has a reputation for providing us with cars that are of high quality and high value. The same rings true for their flagship 2021 Toyota Avalon sedan. This full-size machine has been praised for its ability to provide comfort, spaciousness, its powerful V6 engine, and its optional AWD powertrain. This car is all that you need in your ride to the supermarket or dodging grannies on the freeway, and that’s why it’s been chosen as Driver’s Auto Mart’s Used Car of The Week!
Engine and Drive
This recent Avalon sedan has two unique powertrain options to choose from. The first already has an energetic punch with its standard 3.5-L V6 engine matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission, it has an incredible output of 301 horsepower with 267 lb-ft of torque, and only uses FWD.
Interestingly enough, the 4-cylinder 2.5-L found on the XLE AWDs and Limited AWDs, has much less peppiness, specifically with an output of 205 horsepower, however, this is in favor of a better performance exhaust system and a livelier suspension. As with the 3.5-L, this motor uses an 8-speed automatic.
Overall, the ride quality feels a bit different than the previous models, which usually felt as if you’re sitting on a plush cloud, versus the 2021 Avalon which still feels comfortable but also controlled and even a bit daring. The Touring and TRD models (w/ an adaptive suspension system) gives the car that extra needed push, while its automatic excels in providing smoothness and precision.
Exterior
The Avalvon of today is no longer the meek and geeky sedan that you met at its first introduction, rather it’s developed to a sleek and suave stud with a fierce look that younger buyers may be intrigued by. Elements involving large and wide grille to its special character lines makes it clear that Toyota isn’t playing any games with its design. The car also gets some brownie points for its great visibility, as one shouldn’t have any issues looking forward regardless of their seating position and seat height.
The TRD trim also sits 0.6 inches lower, includes an aerodynamic body kit and distinctive front splitter, and flaunts 19-inch matte-black alloy wheels and a trunk-mounted spoiler.
Interior and Standard Features
If you ask us, the interior is significantly more alluring than the exterior, and for various reasons. Starting off, the cabin is quite generous in its space and has an opulent style, almost resembling a Benz vehicle. It’s also very tech-savvy, yet not to the point where ol’timers can’t find a way to navigate their way around. All Avalon’s come with a tasteful 9-inch touchscreen display with some physical controls. There’s also a conventional gear shift opposed to buttons, dials, or other progressive tools.
Rear seats will also be kind to your long-legged friends, with front seats feeling quite supple and easy on the buns for long road trips. Lower trims are already posh with its fit and finish, while top-tier models bring it up several notches with their quilted leather.
Then, the cargo has plenty of room, with over 16 cubic feet and even allows the rear seats to fold down. The TRD also adds on embroidered headrests, red stitching, and assertive red seat belts.
Standard features include heated and 8-way power-adjustable fronts seats, SofTex faux leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control with rear-seat air vents, keyless entry with push-button start, auto-dimming rearview mirror, four USB charge ports.
You’ll also enjoy the in-house amenities such as a 9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Amazon Alexa integration, eight speakers, and a 3-year trial of the Safety Connect system with gadgets like an emergency-assistance button. At the same time, features that are more safety-oriented encompass forward-collision alert with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure/lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, radar cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring.
